Declaration of Independence

We the children, in order to form a nation of our vision, hereby establish our nation of Fidelitas, which means "Loyalty". We believe as our own independent nation that we can create a utopian society better than that of the United States of America. We believe that it is our duty to establish our utopian nation for our right of freedom and independence.

We have based our form of ruling government in Fidelitas on the philosophy of Locke and Hobbes. Hobbes believed in ruling through fear, and Locke believed that everyone should have equal rights. We will have our government set up as a direct democracy in the strong belief that this will be the best form of government.

Our freedoms will be based on that of the wolves, meaning that everyone has a part in the pack and in this utopia. We will include freedoms of property, speech, religion, assembly, petition, and voting. We believe that these freedoms will create a society ruled with peace, equality, and unity.

We believe that we can create a society that is better than the modern U.S.A. for several reasons. We believe that the current U.S.A. does not have a constitutional republic is not the best way of having a set up government. We believe that by giving the people of our nation the freedom and right to have their own laws voted on by them, the people will be more alert about and involved in the government and therefore making the government the best system for the people, by the people.

Journal Entry #3

Dear Journal,

Today I took the test, luckily they postponed the test until Tuesday due to Independence day, and I think that I failed, it was a really hard test about how Fidelitas was founded and the principals and rules that our society was based on. I think I got the questions on the wolf pack right because of the presentations yesterday, but I'm really not sure I could have been wrong. I always think that I fail the tests but usually I pull through and at least pass the test, maybe not with flying colors though, so I really really hope that will happen this time. I can't afford to mess up and fail a test I'm already teetering on the edge of failing, and my parents are not happy, on the bright side they can't just leave me in the middle of the ocean to be eaten by sharks, at least that option is illegal, but they might take away my cell phone and I really wouldn't enjoy that. I had lunch with my friends Vince, Polly, Hannah, and Colin; Colin was picking on me again and called me a flamingo because of my long legs, I don't really care if he calls me that, I think he likes me, so does Vince and Vince is Colin's best friend. I don't really like him but he's nice enough, after lunch we went back to class and then later on I had soccer practice. I went home and ate lasagna for dinner and talked to my parents for awhile and then worked on my math homework, that got old fast so I headed to bed early and crashed for the night.

Journal Entry #2

Dear Journal,
This morning I woke up and went to school. It was Independence Day. When I got to school we had a presentation from some of the older kids in school. They talked about how it was important to be loyal to the pack and to always help each other and use teamwork. We all were intently listening to the speakers, and even our Leader had a few things to say. We are all very proud of Fidelitas for choosing to become independent. After school was over my family and I had a very nice dinner together, and we had our evening talk. Dad talked about how his entire factory had closed down for the day. My mother and father went to the parade in the capital. I talked to them about how there was a presentation at school and how the leader came and said a few words before he had to leave to go to the parade. My parents and I had a nice meal and then I will be going to bed early tonight because I have a test tomorrow.

Journal Entry #1

Dear Journal,

Today is Saturday and the first thing I did in my day was; I got up and had breakfast with my family, then we decided to go to the ocean and swam and surfed for three hours. Then we took a break and had a picnic lunch that my dad packed, (hotdogs and hamburgers). After that we went back to the house and I talked to some of my friends online and then watched my favorite show on TV. When that was over I got out some homework that I had to do for Monday morning and I worked on that for about an hour or so, after I got bored with that I went outside and played with our dog Max. Max likes to play fetch so I threw sticks for him until he got too tired. Max went to sleep under a tree and then I went inside and made chocolate chip cookies. While the cookies were in the oven I playes a video game with my brother...I beat him and then he cried so I gave him a cookie...he stopped after that. Then we had roast beef for dinner with mashed potatoes, with my cookies for dessert. Then I logged back online and chatted with my friends some more and found out that we have a test on Monday that I didn't know about, so I did what I always do and put it off until tomorrow night. After my friend made me angry I logged off and picked up my book that I checked out from the library weeks ago and never got around to reading, and I read that for about half an hour when I started to get sleepy, so basically the next thing I did was take a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and then climbed into bed and wrote this, wow my day was not that interesting.

10 Rules of Fidelitas

10 Rules

1. Every person has a right to be happy and have freedom as long as the leader is okay with it.
As long as people’s freedoms don’t interfere with what the leader wills than the leader has no right to tell the people what to do.
2. The leader cannot abuse power or will be overthrown.
If the leader does something that the people do not like than the people have the right to overthrow the leader and to pick a new one.
3. The society will follow rules according to wolf packs.
Rules such as being loyal to your leader and working together all the time will be what our society abides by. Things that the wolves use to uphold their own society are going to be used for our own because we think that the wolves have a good system of checks and balances among other things and that they were the best choice to base our society on.
4. No misuse of another’s property, no stealing, borrowing without permission.
You have to respect people’s personal belongings and property.
5. No hurting another person. no gang violence
We cannot have any violence in our nation because if we do, then we can’t function properly.
6. Freedom of religion, laws will be justified around religious practices
You can practice whatever religion you want, and if there is a law restricting something that is religious, we can amend the law for your needs.
7. No weapons unless it has something to do with your job.
If we don’t have weapons then we will have less violence.
8. Parental responsibility is more important than anything else
We believe that parental responsibility is important and we need all our families to be bonded and loving or else we won’t have a pack like structure.
9. No abuse of animals
There will be no abuse of animals because we have no need for the killing of animals, we will solve all pest problems humanly and pets will be treated like a member of the family.

10. If you fail to follow any of these rules, you will be punished by immediate ejection from Fidelitas.

We think that if you aren't going to listen and follow the rules than we really don't want you in our society, so we aren't going to bother with a jail, if you disobey you are ejected.

Government

Our government is a full democracy. We will have board members to help keep the Utopia out of chaos, but they must be approved by at least 75% of the population. There will be 7 board members, but they must take their ideas based on the public. The public can impose their right to impeach the board member if they are not following the ideas of the public. There must be at least 5 members of the board to agree on a law before it is passed. They must also put out monthly polls that are optional to the public, then act upon them. If one board member tries to rise to power above the others, they will immediately be dismissed, and an election for a new board member.

Letter To Friends Asking Them To Join Us

Dear Friends,

We have found fault with today’s society and therefore have decided to form our own greater society which is called Fidelitas and we would like you to join our society. In our society we have a lot weighing on trust, loyalty, teamwork, and honesty, qualities that we believe are some of the best and most important to exhibit. Loyalty, trust, teamwork, and honesty are important because if you don’t exhibit these qualities with your friends, family, society, community, and most importantly yourself than what are you living for and what are you living by. All of these qualities are morals and if you don’t have them, then you don’t have morals either, or at least not very high morals and what good is that. Not having these qualities means that you would lie to your parents, tell your friends you can come to their birthday party and then cancel when you think something better comes along, tell you team you’re going to do something and then not do it, and keep secrets from everyone that could help you with a problem. Doing any of these things is awful, and doing all of them or even anything remotely close is also a shame, and we believe that our society will help to bring out these traits in everyone or enhance them if they are already portrayed.
Our society is based on that of the wolves, wolves have many good qualities and therefore we knew that basing our society on theirs was the best choice. Wolves always work in teams to get things done, whether it is going in for the kill (just an example we aren’t doing that in our society) or through the way they communicate with each other and quickly spread messages they are always working together. We want this for our society as well, we want to do things together and not just have one person making decisions and then following through with them. We want everyone to make decisions together and then follow through, together, not alone, no one has to be alone in our society, no one has to be lonely. Wolves are also loyal to each other and make sure that no one is left behind and that they always have each other’s backs, trust comes into play here as well. The wolves trust each other and they know that they all have each other’s backs and will fight and defend each other till the end. This is definitely something that we want in our society because we know that often times in today’s society people are betrayed, either by the one’s they love and are close to or by total strangers and we are sick and tired of betrayal. We want everyone in our society to be able to trust each other, trust each other so much that they would put their lives in total stranger’s hands and know that they are safe; this will be accomplished by not having locks on people’s homes or having things such as safes where people lock up valuables. Another thing that will be done is to have weekly (at first and then monthly as things progress and the society develops), gatherings, like a block party where people gather and socialize with one another and talk about what is going on in their lives and tell people about them and how they are doing and generally just get to know one another. This will help with trusting because then people will know everyone and they will know everything about them so that there are no secrets being kept or lies being told, which brings us to honesty. People in the society are encouraged to always tell the truth and never lie to each other and that will be possible because of the gatherings, people will trust each other and really know each other so they won’t lie to each other as much as they do now hopefully. We think that all these things are critical in a society and that many societies do not contain these qualities and therefore cannot be satisfactory and serve their citizens in a necessary manner. We hope that you find our society to be better than today’s current society and that you will soon help us in making our society even better than it already is by joining us as a citizen of Fidelitas.

Sincerely,
The Founders of Fidelitas

Motto and Explanation For Motto

“Stay Loyal to the Pack.”

Our motto is stay loyal to the pack because we don't want anyone to be left out and in a wolf pack everyone has a place and a job. There is a role for everyone and there is also a leader who everyone in the pack follows, and we want to make sure that everyone stays loyal to the leader so that things run smoothly, if there is a problem with the leader though the people need to be loyal to themselves and their needs and then get rid of the leader and replace him/her with someone that will do a better job, either way there is unconditional loyalty in a pack and we feel that this is one of the most important things in our society. You can't be part of the society if you aren't loyal because if you don't have loyalty and you can't trust each other and be honest, what do you have and what will happen to you?
